RINGING IN LOVE & NEW BEGINNINGS:

 BECCA & MIKE'S NYE WEDDING

As the clock ticked towards the end of the year, I found myself gearing up for a wedding day unlike any other. Rebecca and Michael had chosen New Year’s Eve for their special day, weaving the promise of new beginnings into the very fabric of their celebration. As a photographer, capturing the essence of this unique union against the backdrop of an entire year's farewell was an exhilarating prospect. Yet, nothing prepared me for the magic that unfolded.

The week leading up to the wedding had been uncharacteristically clear, devoid of the snow Rebecca had dreamt of for her winter wedding. But as fate would have it, on the morning of New Year’s Eve, the skies above us decided to grace the occasion. Gentle snowflakes began to sprinkle down, transforming the venue into a winter snow globe as if nature itself conspired to fulfill the bride's wishes. It was so magical!

One of the most intimate moments of the day was the first look followed by private vows. Rebecca and Michael had chosen a secluded spot for this tender exchange, away from the eyes of their wedding party. My challenge was to capture this moment without intruding on their privacy—a task that found me hidden in a bush, camera in hand. The raw emotion, the quiet tears of joy, and the quiet promises exchanged are a memory that would remain etched in their hearts (and mine!) forever.

As the day transitioned into evening, the energy shifted with the arrival of the live band, Hot Dog, who brought an electrifying vibe to the celebration. Their repertoire of early 2000s punk rock hits was a nostalgic throwback that had everyone on their feet. I made sure to capture the brides change from heels to a pair of white Keds. Cause memories, right? The air was filled with the sounds of laughter, singing, and the unmistakable beat of drums and guitars—a testament to Rebecca and Michael’s vibrant spirits and their shared love for music that defined their youth.

But it was the final moments of the night that truly encapsulated the magic of the day. As the clock wound down, anticipation filled the air. Guests gathered, champagne glasses in hand, as MGMT’s “Time to Pretend” started playing, its dreamy chords weaving through the crowd. The countdown began, a chorus of voices joining in unity, marking the passage of time. And as the clock struck midnight, the world erupted into cheers & kisses. It was a moment of pure joy, of farewells to the past, and of welcoming a new beginning, not just for the world, but for Rebecca and Michael.

As I packed away my camera, I couldn't help but feel a sense of profound gratitude for being a part of such a unique and beautiful celebration. Capturing the love, the joy, and the sheer magic of Rebecca and Michael’s wedding on New Year’s Eve was an experience that went beyond photography. It was a reminder of the beauty of beginnings, of love’s power to unite, and of the unexpected moments that become our most cherished memories.

As I stepped out into the night, the fresh snow underfoot and the sounds of celebration fading behind me, I knew that this was a story I would recount for years to come. Rebecca and Michael’s wedding was not just the perfect way to end a year; it was a beautiful beginning to their forever. And as for me, it was a reminder of why I fell in love with photography in the first place—to capture life, love, and all the fleeting moments in between.
