Moody Magic: Capturing Abbie & Jason's Unforgettable Wedding
October 14th, 2023 – a day etched in my memory for its dramatic flair and the pure joy of capturing Abbie and Jason's love story. The weather mirrored the couple's chosen "moody" aesthetic, threatening rain all morning. Thankfully, the skies cleared just in time for portraits, creating a wonderfully atmospheric backdrop.
Speaking of dramatics, the morning unfolded with a touch of unexpected burlesque knowledge! While Abbie was getting ready, a hilarious situation arose – no one could quite figure out how to tighten her corset back dress. Thankfully, my years of burlesque came in handy. Turns out, it can be surprisingly useful on a wedding day!
The first look was pure magic. Before Abbie arrived to the set location, I caught up with Jason, who confided in me about a disaster-in-the-making: a giant red stain from his rose boutonniere on his pristine white shirt! Thankfully, the groomsmen managed a quick Tide run, and the stain vanished. It felt like a lucky omen, a sign that even the universe was conspiring to make their day perfect.
The rest of the wedding flowed beautifully. The venue, adorned with dramatic red roses and black drapery, was an alt-girl's dream, channelling a My Chemical Romance vibe. It perfectly reflected Abbie and Jason's unique style and their 13-year love story. And how about the champagne pop?! Jason absolutely nailed the champagne pop brief I gave him.
